Nicole Ringgold has a variety of passions, including her family, travel and experiencing other cultures, education, the mountains, and art. She continuously strives for balance while keeping her passions at her fingertips. It is through her art that she finds her well-being and sense of self.

It is evident by Nicole's background that her professional pursuits are two-fold: to work in a social service setting while simultaneously creating art. She earned her BA in Sociology and Studio Art in 1994, followed by a MA in Clinical Psychology and Art Therapy in 2002. Between degrees, she served for 3 years in the Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa where she worked with women and children on the issues of health, sanitation, nutrition, and family planning. During that time, she spent many hours painting with the local youth, designing and implementing community mural projects, and maintaining energy through her own creativity.

Nicole's artwork includes painted or tiled murals, painted furniture, recycled windows and canvas. She believes that art should be integrated into people's every day lives, and encourages clients to think about how they can transform their living and work spaces to include art. Nicole fluctuates between a realistic and representational style, concentrating on color and shadow. Working in both oil and acrylic, art subjects are influenced by travel, culture and her surroundings.

Nicole currently works both as the director of an international youth exchange program and as an artist. She resides in the Methow Valley, WA with her husband and daughter.
